Every kind of studio loses money in the same places: new people who don’t come back, regulars who quietly fade, classes that depend on who is teaching, rooms that stand empty. What differs is how it happens in each room. The Round Connect core is shared; each product solves the same problems in the way its format needs.
New people who come back
Whether someone stays is decided in their first few classes — and that’s when they most often overdo it or feel lost.
- Reformer: what to be careful with, told once; the right line from the first class.
- Cycle: a narrower range on the first ride; the instructor knows the bike number before class; a beginners’ ride offered on the card.
- Combat: technique first, and a clear path to the first sparring session.
- Functional: the newcomer’s own version of the class, with volume that grows week by week.
- Flow: three questions at booking, so the teacher knows a first-timer before the first breath; before/after on the first card.
- Rowing: the damper set right in the first strokes, and a card about what they learned, not about metres.
- Race: a conversation before the ticket — doubles or a relay now, solo when they’re ready.
What you can measure: the share of new people back within 14 days.
Regulars who keep progressing
After about three months, “just hard” stops being enough. Visible progress and a goal keep people.
- Reformer: progress and levels, home programmes.
- Cycle: time in their own range grows; “you can go harder” when they’re ready.
- Combat: the path to sparring; the next belt and who may be ready for grading (in development).
- Functional: a goal with a date, a predicted finish, every weight remembered.
- Race: after the race, a recovery week and a next goal — not necessarily another race.
- Flow: how they felt before and after, and milestones they mark themselves.
- Rowing: a longer, steadier stroke, class by class.
What you can measure: retention after three months.
Noticing who is fading — in time
By the time a membership isn’t renewed, the decision was made weeks earlier. Every product flags regulars who are fading — with a reason for their coach to talk about progress, not a discount code.
Safety you can show
Not a promise to anyone; a record that the studio acted with care.
- Reformer: pain means stop; every “it hurt” remembered; a safety log.
- Cycle: “bike 9 has stopped” on the instructor’s watch (in development); a safety log by voice.
- Combat: sparring clearances, pairs within your limits, the head-knock protocol for the whole club.
- Functional: a signal before the heavy station; a heat version outdoors.
- Rowing: a signal when a stroke falls apart under fatigue — while there is time to take a look.
- Flow: consent to touch on record; heat signals in hot rooms; a “need help” button for teachers alone.
- Race: the whole week’s load against the usual, signals at simulations, conversations on record.
None of the products diagnoses anything or gives medical advice. People decide.
The same class, whoever teaches
A signature format shouldn’t depend on who is on shift — or leave with a star instructor. Programmes, templates and the pre-class brief live in the core, so a new or substitute coach runs the class the way you designed it, and members’ history stays with the studio.
Room for people who need care
Older members, pregnancy and the months after a birth, a sore knee or shoulder. Each product gives them their own option without singling them out: the reason is never on the shared screen.
- Reformer: options in two or three lines.
- Cycle: a seated range; big tiles for older groups.
- Combat: “careful with the neck” reaches the partner, never the reason.
- Functional: scaling from the profile, postnatal stages, effort by feel.
- Rowing: the instructor’s limits — say, shorter at the catch — remembered in every class.
- Flow: a reminder one pose ahead — “Mat 9 — neck: the alternative” — offered to the whole class.
- Race: a physio’s limits in every gym, and a “not yet” conversation before the ticket.
Hours that earn
Many rooms stand empty for much of the day. Self-guided rides, small groups and zone sessions become safer with the same signals — always after the pilot, an intro session where needed, and only where your insurer agrees.
One standard across a network
The same first class in every location: a signature programme goes out to every site with its exercises, and each site keeps its own programmes. Numbers by site and by coach — classes, visits, “too hard”, “it hurt” — listed alphabetically, to see where coaches need support, not to rank them. And one safety log for your insurer or governing body, exported as a single CSV. Working on our test stand.
Keep what you have
Your booking system, CRM, bikes, straps and rowers stay. Round Connect sits next to them and adds the class and its signals; webhooks and a read-only API to connect them work on our test stand.
Shared by every product
The class screen and timer, programmes and video, the coach’s brief and signals, the member app, the studio console and its history — one core, under your brand. The platform →
The core runs in partner studios today, and every product starts with its first partner studios.
