Round Connect Combat · for boxing and martial arts
Ready for the next step. Not a round before.
Round Connect remembers who is cleared for sparring, who took a knock to the head and who is ready for their next belt — and turns it into short signals for the coach, the member and the parents. Your round timer becomes the screen everyone already watches. The coach always decides.

In the room today
Everything that keeps contact safe lives in the coach’s head.
Who took a knock to the head two weeks ago. Who hasn’t handed in a health form. Who is fifteen kilos heavier than the person they’re about to spar. Which of twenty-five people on the bags is gassed and not recovering. A good coach holds all of it — until the night they’re ill, or a member trains at another club and says nothing.
Meanwhile, fitness members who love the class never make it to technique and sparring, the most loyal part of a gym — because nobody shows them the way.
How it works
Before the session
Members check in with a QR code or the coach ticks them off a list. The coach gets the brief: newcomers, returns, who isn’t cleared, active protocols — and for sparring, suggested pairs with warnings.
During the rounds
The gym screen is the round timer, with a tile for every bag. What matters is recovery in the rest, not the peak: when someone isn’t coming back down, the coach’s watch vibrates with the bag number (in development).
After
A card with rounds, recovery and progress towards sparring — and, in development, towards the next belt. The day after any contact: “How do you feel?” — and anything that isn’t right goes into the coach’s next brief.
Sparring
Pairs by data, not by eye.
Weight, experience, age, today’s notes and active protocols sit next to every suggested pair. Your club sets the limits; Round Connect warns when a pair goes past them — a 14 kg gap, a junior with an adult, a partner who is out of contact today.
- “Careful with the neck” reaches the partner — never the reason
- The coach changes any pair in one tap; every decision is recorded as theirs
- Nothing is forbidden by the system

Head knocks
“If in doubt, sit them out” — built in.
When a coach or a member marks a suspected knock to the head, that person is out of contact at once, the entry goes into the log, and for a child the parents are told straight away. Every coach in the club sees “no contact, day 9 of 21” — so the protocol doesn’t depend on who is teaching tonight. On day 21 the coach is reminded that a gradual return can be discussed.
Round Connect counts the days from the UK’s public guidance on concussion in grassroots sport. It doesn’t diagnose anything: the coach decides, and a doctor when there are symptoms.
For the member
Progress you can see.
“Two of three steps to your first sparring.” “Fourteen classes to your blue belt.” “Twelve rounds — and you recovered in every rest.” Each member has their own path and their own records; there’s no leaderboard.
The path from class to technique to sparring is the one that keeps members for years. Belt progress and grading for BJJ, judo and other belt systems are in development.

Coach’s clearance — ask Lenny
You did it.
Three weeks, step by step
A knock to the head, and the way back
| Moment | What happens |
|---|---|
| In sparring | Kieran takes a hard shot. Coach Lenny stops the round and marks a suspected head knock — two taps. Kieran is out of contact; the log has the time and what happened. |
| The same day | Kieran gets the public guidance on concussion in grassroots sport. |
| Days 1–21 | Every coach’s brief says “Kieran — no contact, day 9 of 21”. He trains without contact when he feels up to it — and doesn’t have to argue with himself about sparring. |
| Another gym | If he also trains at another club on Round Connect and has agreed to share, the protocol shows there too. |
| Day 21 | Lenny is reminded that a gradual return can be discussed. The decision is Lenny’s, after talking to Kieran. |
| If symptoms last | If Kieran still reports symptoms after four weeks, he’s advised to see a doctor, as the guidance says. |
An illustration built from typical clubs — not a real member. Round Connect doesn’t diagnose concussion; it keeps the protocol and reminds.
Made for the whole club
For owners and clubs
Safety you can show: every pair checked, every protocol followed, a full log. Members who move from class to sparring. Less paperwork.
For coaches
What you held in your head, in front of you. Safe pairs in a minute. One vibration when a bag needs you (in development).
For members
Know what’s left before your first sparring — and, in development, your next belt. Never paired with someone who’s far heavier without your coach knowing.
For parents In development
The parent account comes first: your child’s progress and gradings, and any safety message straight away. No photos, no rankings.
Works with what you already have
Keep your system. Keep your straps.
Attendance and belts already live in Gymdesk, Zen Planner or Clubworx — Round Connect sits next to them; webhooks and a read-only API to connect them work on our test stand. Heart-rate straps from any maker work over Bluetooth or ANT+, and the computer behind the gym screen receives them. Punch trackers, where you have them, are a second layer. No device of ours is needed.
