Round Connect Combat FAQ

Questions about Round Connect Combat — concussion, who decides pairs, weight, children and parents, health forms, heart-rate straps, leaderboards, fight-school software.

Does Round Connect diagnose concussion?

No. It can’t tell whether someone has a concussion and doesn’t assess anyone’s condition. It records a suspected knock, takes the person out of contact and keeps the protocol from the UK’s public guidance. The coach decides — and a doctor when there are symptoms.

What if someone hides a knock to the head?

That’s the biggest risk, so the coach can mark a suspicion too, and after any contact members are asked the next day how they feel. The brief repeats the club’s rule: if in doubt, sit them out.

Who decides the sparring pairs?

The coach. Round Connect suggests pairs and warns when one goes past your club’s limits; the coach can change any pair, and the decision is recorded as theirs.

Who sets the limits for weight, experience and age?

Your club. We start from sensible defaults and check them with club coaches during the pilot.

Why do you need weight?

Only for pairs, and for one signal: a sharp change in a short time, so the coach can have a word. We never advise on making weight.

How do you handle children?

Profiles only with parents’ consent. The parent account (in development) comes first, safety messages go to parents straight away, coaches never message children directly, and there are no photos or rankings of children — in children’s groups the gym screen shows no names either.

What about health forms?

Stored in the format your club and governing body use. We keep them; we don’t interpret them. Health data is held only with separate, explicit consent under UK GDPR.

Do members need heart-rate straps?

Not for Basic. Digital uses straps from any maker over Bluetooth or ANT+ for recovery between rounds. Punch trackers are optional.

Is there a leaderboard?

No. Each member has their own path and their own records — nobody is ranked against anyone else.

We already use Gymdesk or Zen Planner.

Keep it. Round Connect adds safety and signals; webhooks and a read-only API to connect it to your system work on our test stand.

Which sports is it for?

The first pilot is planned with an amateur boxing club, a boxing-fitness gym and a BJJ academy; judo clubs and others are welcome next. Other striking and grappling arts work the same way — tell us about yours.

Is Round Connect responsible if something happens?

A signal is help, not a guarantee. Decisions stay with the coach and the club; the log shows that the club acted with care.
