Round Connect Rowing FAQ

Questions about Round Connect Rowing — the back, the damper, which rowers work, instructors who never rowed, pregnancy and limits, online classes, leaderboards.

Can Round Connect tell if someone is hurting their back?

No. Stroke data is an indirect sign of technique; it can’t see anyone’s back. When a stroke changes against that person’s usual one, it tells the instructor to take a look. Nothing here is a diagnosis or medical advice.

Why does it tell people to lower the damper?

The damper setting isn’t a difficulty level, and heavier isn’t better. Newcomers often set it to 10; Round Connect sees the drag in the first strokes and suggests a setting that fits them.

Which rowers work?

Concept2 rowers with the PM5 monitor send their data over Bluetooth and ANT+. Older monitors and other brands work through adapters, or without live data — with the brief and the cards.

Our instructors aren’t rowers.

That’s exactly who it helps most: hints on every tile and signals for the instructor about who is rushing, whose damper is too heavy and whose stroke is falling apart.

What do members share?

First time, how they feel today, and notes such as “lower back” or “knee”. We never ask about diagnoses. Adaptations after surgery or for pregnancy are set by the instructor, with a specialist where needed.

Can we run online classes?

Yes, in the Digital plan: the member’s phone connects their monitor to the instructor. At home, nobody can provide emergency help — safety rules are shown at the start.

Is there a leaderboard?

No. Crew mode shows how well the class rows in time instead of who rowed furthest.

Does it work in a 20-minute class on the gym floor?

Yes. Without a studio screen, the instructor’s phone is the screen and receives the monitors.
